Day-Four Field Experience

What did I do? What did I learn? Why does it matter? Now why is this needed? What do I plan to do next?

Today was my fourth official day working on my internship site! I got to sit in on and drive the PowerPoint during a client meeting two Engagement and Wellbeing Consultants were tag teaming. This allowed me to note clients’ interest in improving employee engagement and wellbeing, report my varying insights, and gain exposure. I better understand the purpose of Wellbeing Consultants in meetings like this one; this partnership allows us to create a strategy that aligns with the goals, culture, and budget of “our” client. After reflecting on this meeting, I realized the importance of focus group needs assessments; they allow public health officials to see the gaps in health resources and create a more tailored program to fulfill the different needs of different communities. There is something very satisfying about seeing the skills you learn in an academic setting be applied in real-world situations. This work between consultants and clients matters because better health outcomes and overall wellbeing are directly linked to productivity rates. I plan to use these new insights and experiences to create better health strategies and tools for others; tomorrow, I will start drafting a document connecting work and wellness to finance and purpose.
