Week Fourteen Reflection

Week Fourteen Reflection:

I am wrapping up week fourteen at the OD internship before the final half of the fifteenth week. This our intern advisor team met on new intern projects, finalizing our fall projects, in-person vendor summit meetings, and final presentations for next week. Next week, I have my evaluation meetings with my advisor on Monday, a final presentation on Wednesday, and a team presentation of my projects on Thursday after the official internship. This internship has been a fantastic learning experience; I have had to learn more about time management when I’m a slow worker, presentation skills, and consistent team communication. I am sad and excited about the ending of this internship, eager to move on to the following experience, and sad because of the end of this experience and my relationships with the team.

This week, I worked on a combined vendor summit PowerPoint presentation, the intern training and skills pages, the PPB Presentation, and the finalization of the psych guide. This week’s work at the internship falls under several HESPA Competencies and sub-competencies: leadership/management, ethics, and professionalism.

(7.2.4) Leadership and management prepare others to provide health education and promotion plan training, including technical assistance and support. My work and contributions to the new internship onboarding training required me to prepare a training guide for new interns with technical training resources, wellbeing pillar education training, and a cohesive timeline for onboarding. This allows me to take a leadership position using my internship experience to pass along a comprehensive description of the internship and the onboarding timeline.
(7.3.2) Leadership and management, managing human resources, facilitating positive organizational culture and climate. My work on the Psychological safety guide this week required me to consider and write up tangible strategies of actions that Leadership and management can take to promote a positive and psychologically safe working environment. A positive culture and climate at work is the top driver of psychological safety, so I was required to present numerous strategies under four components on how to promote a safe and positive environment in the ever-changing modern workforce.
(8.4.6) Ethics and Professionalism promote the health education profession to stakeholders, the public, and others. My work on both the vendor summit presentations and the PPB webinar presentation for other professional members promotes health education and resources to future stakeholders and clients of our organization. This presentation requires me to present pillars of wellbeing and combined resources and strategies in presentational form to other members of the engagement and wellbeing profession.
